Description of Duties:
After the initial training period, this position will have remote work options and work/life flexibility.
The primary purpose of this position is to monitor the day to day financial transactions and accounts of a $4 million dollar plus budget that occur across a variety of funding sources related to the foundation: provide a spectrum of accounting principles including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, month-end and year-end closings, balancing cash, bank statement reconciliations, maintenance of fixed assets, assisting with the annual audit, providing excellent customer service to our internal and external customers, and other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for all major accounting functions, applying accounting principles and practices to a variety of tasks, budgeting, and other fiscal functions, including but not limited to reconciliations of accounting reports, examination of various financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to guidelines. This position advises and assists staff and faculty on all issues related to NCSSM Foundation accounting policies and procedures.
General Duties:
- Process and approve all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Reconcile general ledger and subledger accounts monthly.
- Review and Process monthly procurement card transactions.
- Process and track transactions related to the Endowment.
- Plan, manage, coordinate, implement, and prepare year end closing reporting and adjustments.
- Perform cash analysis and update fiscal and budget projections.
- Serve as a resource to departments for questions related to the foundation accounting.
- Prepare general ledger entries.
- Maintain records and files.
- Maintain and process sales tax reimbursement, fixed assets letters to the school, and purchase orders.
- Audit and process travel reimbursement.
- Verify and examine appropriateness of expenditures in accordance with applicable School, State, Federal and agency guidelines.
- Identify risk and adverse issues generated in expense activities, present appropriate issues and recommend solutions to management.
- Review budget to actual reports - research any questionable balances and transaction variances.
- Monitor revenues and expenditures to ensure sound fiscal control.
- Ensure foundation policies and procedures are followed and budgets are appropriately spent and balanced.
- Monitor and manage financial accounts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations and/or program laws and regulation.
- Provide required training to employees on foundation systems when needed.

Health Insurance: Employee only coverage under the State Health Plan (PPO) is provided to employees that work 30 or more hours a week. The cost is determined by the type of coverage elected by the employee. Dependent coverage is available by payroll deduction.
Retirement: Required participation for all employees working 3/4 time or more. Option (1) Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) requires 6% of gross salary. Employees are vested for retirement after 5 years. Option (2) The Optional Retirement Program (ORP) requires 6% of gross salary. Employees in ORP are vested after 5 years of participating in ORP. As a participant in either retirement program, you are automatically covered for short-term disability (eligible after 1 year of service/no cost), long term disability (eligible after 5 year of service/no cost). Death benefit of minimum $25,000/maximum $50,000 based on previous 12 month salary (eligible after 1 year of service/no cost).
