Second Bloom of Chatham, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 to provide domestic violence and sexual assault services in Chatham County.
Mission: Our mission is to identify and raise awareness of the needs of those in Chatham Country affected by any form of domestic and/or sexual violence and to work in collaboration with the community to meet those needs.
Position Summary: The Director of Programs is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the Domestic and Sexual Violence program, including crisis and community-based services, outreach, and partnerships and funding and resource management for program operations. The Director of Programs oversees all direct service strategic planning, administrative tasks, daily operations and client-related services.
The Director of Programs is responsible for providing supervision to program staff who provide direct services to clients and provides oversight to client services program operations. The Director of Programs is responsible for setting the tone of an inclusive, trauma-informed, client-centered program that provides excellent quality of care. In collaboration with other leadership team members of the organization, the Director of Programs actively participates in and advocates with local and regional taskforces and State Coalitions created to enhance and consolidate community responses to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The position is full-time and requires a flexible schedule, including back up-on-call availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays in conjunction with other staff. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and manages the 24-hour direct services programming, which includes the Sexual and Domestic Violence helpline and hospital accompaniment services, ensuring all services provided are client-centered, trauma-informed, respectful, compassionate, and in accordance with organizational protocols and industry best practices.
- Manage daily program operations to ensure basic client needs are met (provision of food, transportation assistance, basic care items, safe facility) in accordance with organizational budget and resources.
- Ensure 24/7/365 coverage for emergency crisis response and all programs. Ensure the helpline schedule is up to date. When needed, provide backup coverage and ensure on call and shift rotation staff are properly trained and supported.
- Supervise and guide client services and partner agency collaborations, ensuring all clients have access to safety planning, advocacy, and case management, and ensure clinical interventions and wraparound service referrals are made when necessary and appropriate.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of client data and that it adheres to all organizational and funder requirements.
Personnel Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Executive Director, lead staff recruitment, hiring, training and orientation for direct services staffing in accordance with organizational policies and protocols.
- Provide consistent direct and indirect reflective supervision to program staff.
- Coach, support, and conduct performance reviews for program staff per SBC’s personnel policies. Provide feedback about the performance of volunteers and support them in areas of growth and learning.
- Conduct weekly team meetings to provide group and peer supervision to mitigate risk, support the team, coordinate client response, and continuously monitor and evolve services.
- In accordance with best practices and organizational policies, ensure regular in-service training is offered to all staff and volunteers per grant requirements.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert in the areas of Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Assault and actively support onboarding and orientation for new staff across the organization.
Management Responsibilities:
- Ensure all Sexual and Domestic Violence programs adhere to State Professional Accreditation Standards, applicable laws, and best practices. Remain aware of any changes and oversee their implementation with support from the Executive Director as needed. Comply with established organizational policies and procedures and champion new initiatives and best practices in the field.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with various community professionals, stakeholders, services providers, and partners.
- Support organizational advancement and fundraising events and communications and advocacy efforts by supporting staff in enacting awareness month activities, implementing a community outreach strategy, and representing the organization at speaking engagements as needed. When appropriate, share program data and reports and clients' stories following ethical storytelling practices.
- Serve as lead advocate and liaison representing Second Bloom of Chatham in community coalitions and committees as they pertain to enhancing survivor services.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and informative data collection and reporting. Analyze, interpret, and communicate trends, challenges, unmet needs, celebrations, and areas in need of improvement.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate alignment with Second Bloom of Chatham’s mission.
- Facilitate and attend training and meetings as required.
- Represent the Domestic and Sexual Violence Program at various community initiatives and events as requested.
- Maintain current movement knowledge and knowledge about best practices.
- Maintain flexibility and availability to participate in the organizations on-call rotation when needed.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
Education and Skill Requirements
Education/experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; MSW or LCSW preferred. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a strong background of either professional or lived experience in related areas of work or experiences.
- Minimum of two years working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Significant professional and/or lived experience with historically underserved and marginalized communities including communities of color, rural communities, LGBTQ+ communities, low-income communities, Native/Indigenous communities, people with disabilities, and others.
- At least two years of supervisory and/or leadership experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills/fluency strongly preferred but not required.
Qualifications and skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of intimate partner violence, gender-based violence, sexual violence, housing and homeless systems, mental health systems, social service systems, and other related issues.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to coordinate complex activities, meet deadlines, and use sound judgement in addressing conflicting demands and utilizing resources.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in operating within antiracist and equity frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain a positive team environment through coaching, supporting, and leading in a crisis-driven, fast-paced environment of staff and volunteers.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to speak to an audience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, navigating technologies such as electronic databases, case management systems, and email and internet platforms.
