Position Overview:
Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity is seeking an effective leader who is passionate about our mission: to put God’s love into action, and bring people together to build homes, community and hope.

The Executive Director (ED) provides operational leadership in achieving the organization’s mission and directing the day-to-day activities of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. This person is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors for the effective and efficient financial, operational, and administrative management of the affiliate. The ED provides overall leadership for the affiliate in accordance with the mission, policies and objectives of the Board of Directors to promote the vision, direction, welfare and growth of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. 

As the ED, you will drive our mission forward, inspire staff, volunteers, and community partners to work collaboratively towards providing affordable housing solutions. This role requires a blend of strategic leadership, community engagement, and a deep passion for our affordable housing mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visionary Leadership: Articulate and implement a clear vision for the organization that aligns with our mission and inspires action. 
  • Community Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with community members, donor partnerships, stakeholders, and local organizations to advance our mission and foster collaboration. Represents the affiliate in the community and serves as affiliate liaison with other community, professional, and social service organizations.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans that enhance affiliate effectiveness, expand outreach, and ensure growth.
  • Financial Management and Development: Oversees affiliate finances and cash flow to ensure compliance with approved budget. Assist cultivating donor relationships and oversee fundraising initiatives to secure financial support for our programs.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and support the leadership team and staff, fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for affordable housing and community development.
  • Experience in not-for-profit administration and financial management, including budgeting and personnel policies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic understanding of house construction, budgeting, planning, mortgage banking, relevant laws and low-income housing policies and issues.
  • Ability to think strategically and implement practical solutions.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong organizational skills.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in business management, public administration, social services, human resources or a related field.
  • Five years of supervisory and managerial experience in business management, public administration, social services, human resources or a related field.
  • The position is a salaried position, at times requiring more than 40 hours per week, including some weekend hours as necessary.
