Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is hiring a Membership Specialist to serve Jones, Pamlico, Carteret, and Craven Counties.

 

The Membership Specialist position is a part-time position (up to 19 hours/ week) and is responsible for preparing and facilitating programs for girls in communities throughout Jones, Pamlico, Carteret, and Craven Counties. While responsible for the entire assigned area, this position will primarily serve Jones county.  This position pays $16/hr

 

Day in the Life:

 

Community Engagement

  • Deliver programs to groups of 25+ girls at partner sites.
  • Prepare and set up materials based on programming.
  • Travel throughout assigned area to 1-3 partner sites a day.
  • Interface with site leaders and staff
  • Provide fun, interactive learning experiences for Community Engagement Groups and newly forming troops.

Recruitment and Conversion

  • Attend community events to build and develop relationships with community leaders, schools, organizations, and businesses to support recruitment efforts.
  • Establish and nurture contacts with new girl and adult leads to solidify new member growth and engagement.
  • Ensure girl and adult leads are converted into memberships and girls are placed in troops.
  • Serve as a role model and Girl Scout representative to girls and adults.

 

Requirements

 

 

  • High school diploma
  • Sales or recruitment experience and skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently or in teams
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with children and deliver fun, engaging activities that meet the curriculum goals
  • Strong experiential-based classroom management skills
  • Comfortable resolving conflict with both girls and adults
  • Ability to quickly grasp Girl Scout program and curriculum and deliver to girls; basic knowledge of Girl Scout GSLE / Journey program preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends required
  • Commitment to GSNCCP and GSUSA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Racial Justice (DEIB/RJ) initiatives.
  • Must be willing to obtain a GSUSA membership ($25 annually) upon employment
  • This position requires driving a council vehicle or a personal vehicle; therefore, the individual must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver's license, and self-report any vehicle violations
  • Ability to travel to sites within the council’s jurisdiction, including program and school sites within a 150-mile radius of the nearest Council’s office
  • Ability to tolerate occasional exposure to seasonal weather conditions
