Summary: 

Since 1967, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) has delivered challenging wilderness adventures that teach more than outdoor skills. Our wilderness courses, from the mountains of North Carolina to the shores of South Florida to the peaks of South America, deliver on our mission to change lives through challenge and discovery. The Regional Advisory Manager will support the Advancement Department and volunteers to help build a fundraising program to grow the culture of philanthropy across the Regional Advisory Boards in support of the NCOBS mission and programs.   

 

Essential Functions 

  • Develop and maintain a fluid understanding of NCOBS educational, operational, scholarship goals in Charlotte, Florida, and Washington D.C while working in partnership with the NCOBS Advancement Team and the Regional Advisory Boards to meet and implement regional fundraising budget and NCOBS strategic goals and vision. 

  • Lead and collaborate with Regional Advisory Boards to implement fundraising activities in the Charlotte, Florida, Washington D.C regions, including planning and coordinating events to raise funds and expand the local NCOBS donor base and client network.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Partner with Regional Advisory Boards to define fundraising goals, raise funds, implement budget, and meet NCOBS strategic goals.  

  • Organize Regional Advisory Board activities, including writing and distributing meeting agendas and taking meeting minutes.  

  • Orient all new members to the goals and purpose of the Regional Advisory Boards and the Regional Advancement Plan (RAP). 

  • Maintain a portfolio of donors in the Charlotte, Washington D.C and Miami community. 

  • Work with Executive Director, NCOBS Advancement Team, and Regional Advisory Boards to develop current Regional Advisory Plan (RAP) strategy for NCOBS fundraising and programmatic growth. 

  • Research and execute regional grants and sponsorships in conjunction with the NCOBS Advancment Team.  

  • In collaboration with the NOCBS sales department, coordinate business development and media exposure for NCOBS in Charlotte. 

  • Lead Charlotte based initiatives to further NCOBS RAP goals and initiatives as needed. 

  • Actively seek to participate and network in regional NCOBS partner school meetings and events. 

  • Coordinate local efforts with the Charlotte Program Coordinator and assist in securing new business opportunities. 

  • Report weekly to the Director of Advancement on schedule and activities.  

  • Actively participate in Advancement meetings.  Regularly meet with staff in the Asheville Town Office. 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Full Remote Work 

  • Irregular work hours, as necessary. 

  • Quarterly Travel to Regional areas and occasional meetings at the Asheville Town Office. 

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Prior experience with fundraising, sales and/or marketing. 

  • Prior experience with public and/or media relations. 

  • Prior experience with successful grant writing. 

  • Prior experience in working with and supporting a board and volunteers. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge and passion about NCOBS & Outward Bound programs, history and philosophy. 

  • Highly effective communicator, both written and oral. 

  • Able to establish rapport with adults, organization administrators, teenagers and parents.  

  • Represent NCOBS appropriately and professionally.  

  • Ability to meet deadlines.  

  • Self-starter and able to work independently and within a team structure.  

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. 

  • Familiar with working on a computer, databases and proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. 

  • Be able to clear all background and motor vehicle screening.  

  • Effective interaction with all levels of management  

  • Capable of meeting deadlines 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence 

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead events, projects, campaigns or meetings

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Compensation is competitive to regional and non-profit comparable organizations 

  • Compensation range: $50,000 - $55,000
