Volunteer and School Liaison Manager (Volunteer Position with Stipend)
Overview: Do you believe in the transformative power of pet-assisted therapy in schools? PetPalsNC is seeking a dedicated Volunteer and School Liaison Manager to join our team. Pet-assisted therapy has been shown to improve emotional well-being, increase student engagement, and foster a positive school environment. This role is vital in managing our volunteer handlers, coordinating with school liaisons, and ensuring the successful implementation of our programs. With a stipend provided, this position offers a rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of pet-assisted therapy in education and make a meaningful impact on students' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit and manage volunteer certified therapy dog handlers.
- Ensure completion of required training for volunteers and school liaisons.
- Maintain relationships with schools and manage Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs).
- Facilitate communication between volunteers and schools.
- Implement a system to track volunteer hours.
- Meet and vet new therapy dog teams.
- Conduct "new school orientations" at schools when a new therapy dog team and school are matched.
Qualifications:
- Experience in volunteer management and education.
- Experience as a therapy dog handler and knowledge of animal-assisted therapy in schools.
- Administrative experience in schools, preferably as a social worker or counselor.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Passion for the mission of PetPalsNC.
