The North Carolina Center for Nonprofits is partnering with Associations TRENDS to help North Carolina nonprofits better understand how to best compenstate their employees. During the pandemic, many nonprofits have struggled with recruiting, hiring, and retaining employees. The 2022 Nonprofit Compensation Survey will help shed light on current compensation trends within the sector and provide information to help nonprofits recruit fresh, diverse nonprofit leaders.
Why is it important to complete the survey?
You asked, we listened! As the state association for nonprofits in North Carolina, we get a signficant number of requests to provide compensation information to nonprofits. Executive Directors need this reasearch for budget planning with their staff and board. Nonprofits are asked about compensation policies on their annual tax Form 990.
Nonprofits need to complete the survey in order to provide the most accurate, comprehensive data on competitive salaries and benefits. The nonprofit workforce has value! It has a powerful impact on North Carolina’s economy.
How do I complete the survey?
Navigate to the homepage for Association TRENDS’ compensation survey (www.associationtrends.com/nonprofit-salary-report) or follow the survey link in the email you received.
Click the green box on the right sidebar to register. You MUST register (it’s free) to complete the survey!
Registration is simple! Start by entering your email address. On the next screen, complete the rest of your contact information and click SUBMIT. By giving Association TRENDS this information, they will be able to send you a discount code to purchase the report and let you know when it’s available.

What if I can't find a good match for an employee in the job title list?
Select the job title that most closely matches the job description of your employee (here’s a list of all the job descriptions in the survey). However, if nothing comes close, please do not report that employee. If an employee matches multiple job titles, please select the job title that is the highest ranked or most senior position. Do not report an individual employee for multiple job titles.
How long does this survey this take?
For most organizations, it will take about 30 minutes.
How long will the survey be open?
The survey will close on April 1, 2022.

You can save your progress in the survey by clicking "Save"; you can also "Save and come back later."
To log back in and complete your survey, visit salarysurvey.associationtrends.com.
You will have the option to print and/or download a PDF of your survey responses at the end of the survey.
You will receive an email confirmation that you've completed the survey. Keep this email! It will also contain the discount code you can use to purchase the report when it's released in May.
