Help! We Need a DEIAB Committee! Where Do We Start?

Diversity, equity and inclusion are essential ingredients to an organization’s success. Diverse teams perform better, and equitable and inclusive workplaces indicate to employees that their contributions matter. Accordingly, diversity committees have become standard for organizations looking to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion and improve their workplace culture. If your organization has yet to establish a diversity committee, knowing where to start can be daunting. Here’s the good news: A sound understanding of what diversity committees are, how to form one, and how to effectively establish and measure goals is all an organization needs to establish an effective diversity committee that will advance the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the purpose of a diversity committee and why their organization needs one.
  • Determine what structure, composition, and decision-making authority is most appropriate for their organization’s diversity committee.
  • Establish effective and measurable diversity goals that are tied to their organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Learn how to create buy-in for organizational diversity efforts.
