  • Anniversary or other milestones can be a golden opportunity for renewing relationships, sharing your organization's impact, and possibly raising some extra funds. Many of the resources below agree: if you want to have an anniversary event or digital campaign, start planning early!

Getting Started with Your Anniversary Plan

  • Are you a nonprofit trying to fundraise? You have a board – and believe it or not, your board should function as a fundraising machine. If it runs more like a college clunker than a luxury sedan, join this webinar to learn to:

  • Jeanne Tedrow, President & CEO, North Carolina Center for Nonprofits

To intentionally build an inclusive organization, there needs to be a culture of belonging, where differences are recognized and celebrated. “Belonging” was the theme of our 2021 Conference, where Jaki Shelton Green, NC Poet Laureate and our opening keynote, spoke about the power of our stories. She referenced the American author, Joan Didion, who once said, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.”

  • The 2017 Nonprofit Management Master Class Lecture by Dr. Adrian Sargeant presented at Columbia University School of Professional Studies talks about the social psychology involved in cultivating donor relationships. In particular, about how donor satisfaction shifts over the course of the donor's relationship to the organization and what style of communication fundraisers can employ to engage the donor's sense of connection to the cause championed by your nonprofit.

  • Whether through traditional or digital mediums, nonprofits must tell their stories effectively to garner attention in a crowded media landscape.

    How to Tell Stories

  • The Future of StoryTelling is "a passionate community of people from the worlds of media, technology, and communications who explore how storytelling is evolving in the digital age. Each year we host a two-day summit in New York City that brings together top executives, world-renowned creatives, and cutting-edge technologists to have conversations about the changing landscape of media.

  • Nonprofit program managers ask themselves “How do I reach my volunteers or participants to participate in the activities to achieve the program’s intended outcome or goal?” The next question is often “And, how do we track their participation?” Despite the emergence of affordable mobile technology, staff are often not sure how to decide if an app is the right solution to answer these questions.

  • From volunteers, to grant writers, to leadership, to human resource and everyone in between, those in the nonprofit world face unique challenges when it comes to combatting managing symptoms of burnout. The Community Resiliency Model (CRM®) is designed to provide biologically based skills and knowledge to help individuals feel in control when things seem out of control. Through a combination of psychoeducation and experiential activities, participants learn simple and effective ways to help alleviate the impact of stress on mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

  • The American novelist Joan Didion once wrote, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.”

In many ways Didion was right. Stories may not seem like a basic survival need, but our brains naturally tell us stories as a way to give structure and meaning to our lives.

  • Just as other organizations do, nonprofits should act to protect intellectual property they create and refrain from infringing on others' works. Whether taking photographs at your event for later use in promotional materials, having a volunteer create your nonprofit's mission statement video, or commissioning educational or program curriculum, nonprofits should ensure they have proper intellectual property rights to content they use.
