  • To foster research and education focused on the rich natural heritage of the Highlands Plateau, while preserving and celebrating the integrity of the “biological crown of the southern Appalachian Mountains.”

  • The North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children is the education lifeline and safety net that offers hope, dignity, and opportunity to our state's most underserved public school students by providing for needs that local, state, and federal governments do not. Working directly through public school personnel, our mission is carried out through the Children's Fund, the Disaster Relief Fund, and the NC Teacher Cadet Program.

  • Alliance Center for Education, formerly Bethlehem Center of Charlotte, works with children and families to break the cycle of poverty by providing a continuum of high-quality educational and support services. Founded by United Methodist Women in 1940, AC4Ed has improved economic mobility for thousands of children through early childhood development and K-12 year-round programming.

  • Promising Pages is The Charlotte Area Book Bank! Our mission is to collect new and donated books and share them with children living in the Charlotte Area Book Desert: those with few, if any, books at home. We work to create a culture of book sharing and ownership. Promising Pages envisions a world where all children have home libraries of self-selected books, can see themselves reflected in the books they read, and have made reading a joyful habit for a lifetime.

  • Vision
Each North Carolina child has a strong foundation for lifelong health, education and well-being supported by a premiere birth-to-age-eight system.

    Mission
To marshal North Carolina’s great people, ideas and achievements to build a foundation of opportunity and success for every child by the end of third grade.

  • EMA is a non-traditional school where Panthers (our mascot) are in control of their own learning. EMA, as a member of the Acton Academy Affiliate Network, is passionate about reinventing and revolutionizing education, pursuing best practices, and has agreed to protect a learner-driven environment. We exist to offer an alternative non-traditional 21st century model of education that is learner-driven. Instead of cultivating learners who function well only under authority, we aspire for all EMA Panthers to cherish freedom and the responsibilities that come with it.

  • Salem College's Nonprofit Management and Community Leadership program offers a major, minor, and certificate for students interested in entering or advancing in a career in the nonprofit sector.

  • To provide services for children 0-5.

  • We are currently incorporated as a 501(c)3 educational non-profit as we explore possibilities and raise funds to design a permeable, playful arts village that includes a continuum of care for older adults. At the end of the design process, we will share our model with others and possibly re-incorporate as a development group in order to build our community.
  • To care for people and the Earth by learning, living, and demonstrating a holistic, sustainable culture.
