L - Housing & Shelter

  • Homelessness is more than just a lack of shelter it is also a lack of a place to call home. Here at Healing
Hearts North Carolina, we believe that there are four factors that make a house a home. The Spirit of
God, Food, Family, and Shetler. A growing number of families across the country are facing both housing
insecurity and food insecurity which are interconnected. Families who become homeless not only lose
their homes, but also food and nearly every aspect of family life, causing damage to their spiritual,

  • Taken from the Greek language, “Diakonos” means “one who serves.”  The mission of Diakonos, Inc is to compassionately serve men, women and

  • At A Lotta Love we transform local shelters by creating dignified, safe and emotionally inspiring spaces. We raise awareness of homelessness and empower communities to transform these shelters to benefit the families temporarily living there. Together we show them that we care, and they are deserving of a brighter, more hopeful future.

  • A public-private partnership that exists to support the self-determination of our neighbors experiencing homelessness through trusting relationships and connections to coordinated services that increase their ability to be safely and stably housed.

  • Repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives.

  • To work with people to break the cycle of homelessness. We envision a day when the poor and vulnerable among us will no longer be ignored but treated with compassion and decency. We envision a day when any homeless person, regardless of psychiatric disabilities, substance abuse problems, medical issues, or financial poverty, can move directly into service-enriched permanent housing and become a productive member of society.
