The Development Manager is a key member of the Development Team advancing the organization’s mission by executing a development plan focused on diversified revenue and increased community engagement. The position requires a willingness to become well-versed and comfortable with the facts about child abuse and neglect while embracing SAFEchild’s mission and programs. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and communication with donors, staff, volunteers and all constituents of SAFEchild is a fundamental part of the position. General duties include campaign management, donor stewardship, and special event execution. The person in this position will gain mastery of the donor database and ensure accurate donor information is regularly communicated to the executive director and development director.
The Development Manager is a full-time 40-hour a week position and reports to the Development Director. SAFEchild staff support the agency’s mission and programs and maintain the highest standards of honesty and professional ethics. Staff is courteous of program participants and the community and works harmoniously with SAFEchild colleagues and volunteers. Unless otherwise directed by the Executive Director, all information about agency clients or programs shall be held in the strictest confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
· Support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities across all giving levels
· Manage donor acknowledgment processes to ensure timely, personalized communication
· Collaborate on fundraising campaigns and appeals, including digital and print strategies
· Assist in identifying and researching prospective donors and sponsors
· Build, launch, and oversee a recurring gift campaign to grow sustainable annual support
· Support the Development Director in implementing the organization’s long-term strategic plan
Event Planning & Execution
· Lead the planning and execution of all SAFEchild events, including the annual fundraising gala, corporate partner appreciation event, donor cultivation events, and community outreach activities
· Oversee all event logistics including budgets, timelines, venues, vendors, and communications
· Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and board members to ensure successful events
Development Operations
· Ensure accurate gift processing and data entry using SAFEchild’s donor CRM
· Generate donor and campaign performance reports to inform strategy and decision-making
· Maintain data integrity, apply donor confidentiality best practices, and support data hygiene
Communications & Outreach
· Assist with developing donor-focused content for newsletters, appeals, event materials, and social media
· Work with Development Assistant to track and implement corporate partner annual benefits
· Work with the Development Director to enhance SAFEchild’s visibility and community engagement
Required Qualifications
· A minimum of three years verifiable experience in development with particular emphasis on annual campaign execution, event planning and donor relationship management.
· Experience with Microsoft Suite (especially Excel and Word), Salesforce, OneCause, Click & Pledge a plus.
· Strong organizational skills, great attention to detail and ability to work independently with little administrative support.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain donor relationships on behalf of the agency.
· Demonstration of professionalism in all aspects of work; ability to set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
· Ability and willingness to work daytime, some weekend and evening hours.

· Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000
