POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Development & Marketing serves as the Center for Exceptional Children’s external representative to philanthropic entities, corporate organizations, and charitable foundations and is responsible for developing and implementing the appropriate strategies, tactics, and plans to raise the critical funding required to advance the Centers for Exceptional Children’s mission. That work will include but is not limited to, comprehensive programs supporting individual stewardship, proactive grant-seeking, and corporate development. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director is responsible for supervising the Development & Marketing Associate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops long and short-term goals, strategies, plans, and schedules to raise an ever-increasing amount of money and/or in-kind donations to support CFEC’s strategic plan for a gold-standard program.
- Identifies prospective donors and develops strategies for meetings with them to create and foster relationships leading to gifts.
- Stewards an ongoing relationship with existing donors that encourages continued and increased levels of giving. Coordinates ongoing donor recognition opportunities.
- Researches grant opportunities; completes grant applications; manages reporting.
- Collaborating with the board, identifying potential corporate donors and sponsors, and supporting/executing plans to seek donations.
- Tracks and evaluates fundraising initiatives on an ongoing basis to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and return on investment.
- Ensures absolute compliance with all terms of restricted gifts.
- Develop and manage marketing efforts that increase the visibility of the value of the Center’s programs and encourage financially supporting CFEC.
- Works collaboratively with internal staff, vendors, and volunteers to ensure all philanthropy efforts are appropriately communicated.
- Planning and executing of fundraising events. - Supports the Board of Directors by advising and informing members of activities through regular communication and serving as staff to the development and marketing committee(s).
- Develop, implement and manage CFEC’s social media strategy, including the monthly creation of content Calendar.
- Define the most important Key Performance Indicators for the Development & Marketing Department.
- Ensures timely and accurate record keeping for all gifts received.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with preferably 5 years of fund-raising experience.
- Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and tax laws about fundraising and gift acceptance/acknowledgment.
- Is experienced in researching grant opportunities and completing grant applications and can demonstrate success in being awarded grants.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to persuasively match the needs of The CFEC with donors’ philanthropic Interests.
- Demonstrates proficiency with the electronic donor base systems (Raiser’s Edge). - Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
