Who You Are
Serving a core function of the CaroNova leadership structure, the Director of Learning and Impact is responsible for developing and leading measurement and evaluation efforts for all CaroNova portfolio areas. Reporting to the Vice President of Health Transformation, this role will partner closely with leadership and program teams to optimize CaroNova’s research, measurement, & analysis functions.
The Director of Learning and Impact (DLI) will have extensive experience developing and leading measurement and evaluation efforts for programs focused on improving health and wellness either in healthcare or public health settings. This role will also have experience analyzing a broad range of datasets related to health outcomes, quality, financial, equity, and other key metrics. A continuous learning mindset and consistent awareness of evolving data trends and evaluation strategies is critical. The DLI will lead a small team of analysts working across all portfolio areas and will bring a dynamic and highly collaborative approach to the team.
What You'll Do
The responsibilities of the Director of Learning and Impact fall into the following categories: Data and Analytics (D&A), Research and Evaluation (R&E), and Operations and Governance (O&G)
- Leads the design, implementation, maintenance, and refinement of CaroNova’s data analytics and performance monitoring systems (D&A)
- Guides the identification and development of success metrics, data sources, and goal setting for all portfolio areas (D&A)
- Leads the design of evaluation strategies and plans for all portfolio areas (R&E)
- Drives research efforts in CaroNova topic areas including: literature review, landscape analysis, key informant interviews and focus groups (R&E)
- Manages synthesis of generalizable insights, and drafting of reports or case studies for presentations and publications (R&E)
- Guides development of policies, procedures, and workflows to support a robust data and evaluation infrastructure (O&G)
- Presents key findings and outcomes to target audiences such as: CaroNova Advisory Board, funders, payors, program participants, and other key stakeholders (R&E).
- Leverages data visualization and other tools to present complex data and research findings in digestible formats (D&A)
- Advises on data informed policy positions in collaboration with the Director of Policy (R&E)
- Recommends resource needs including contracted data and evaluation support and software solutions (O&G)
- Serves as staff liaison to the Research and Evaluation Design Team, an external subject matter expert advisory committee guiding CaroNova’s data and evaluation strategy (R&E)
- Oversees all aspects of data security and compliance (O&G)
- Leads development of data use agreements and other related contractual requirements (O&G)
- Train staff in the use of relevant performance, analytics, and evaluation tools, instruments, and reports (O&G)
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field preferred
- Experience in developing and leading an evaluation team, designing and carrying out performance/process evaluation and other types of evaluations, as well as quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- 7 years+ of leadership experience in non-profit health, social, or educational organization
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; deep knowledge of implementation and continuous improvement methodologies
Remote/hybrid work is available. Candidates across North and South Carolina are welcome to apply. Travel to the headquarters in Raleigh, NC may be required.
The annual salary for this position is $100,000–$110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
