Shape the Future of Local Journalism as the Executive Director at Asheville Watchdog
Join one of America’s most dynamic nonprofit newsrooms as our new Executive Director (half-time). Lead a non-profit organization of award-winning journalists whose investigations have transformed Western North Carolina since 2020.
Asheville Watchdog’s reporters and editors include Pulitzer Prize winners who deliver hard-hitting, in-depth coverage that makes a difference. Now we’re seeking an experienced, collaborative administrator to guide our next phase of growth.
As Executive Director, you’ll:
- Partner with our Board and Executive Team to advance our mission of delivering trustworthy, high-impact local journalism
- Oversee all operations
- Guide our strategic expansion, community engagement, and fundraising efforts alongside other talented staff members and volunteers
This role offers growth potential to full-time for the right candidate. Be part of a success story that’s redefining local news. Join us in creating accountability journalism that serves Asheville and Western North Carolina’s communities. This position requires nonprofit leadership experience.
We are generous with most leave benefits, we reimburse for cell phone plans, and the job is generally time-flexible. We are too small to afford health insurance so instead we offer employees a modest monthly health insurance stipend.
Please send a cover letter and resume to our Board Chair, Bob Gremillion, at bgremillion@avlwatchdog.org.
