The Finance Director plays a critical role in developing and maintaining the financial infrastructure that supports our mission. This position is responsible for the smooth operations of all financial functions within Bridge II Sports and serves as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) helping to assess financial opportunities and risks that could have a substantial impact on the organization.
The Finance Director provides financial forecasts and budgets to assist the CEO and the Board of Directors in making prudent decisions for future planning. They regularly monitor the organization's budget and assist the CEO in critical cash flow management decisions as well as building long-term reserves and other assets within the organization. The Finance Director supervises all audit and accounting functions ensuring all financial activity is accurately tracked and reflected in regularly published reports as requested by the CEO, Board of Directors, and the organization's funding sources.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain efficient organizational processes adequate to achieve financial goals and objectives while meeting all GAAP accounting standards.
- Partner with senior leadership and program department leads to develop and implement effective infrastructure systems and processes to support day-to-day financial operations and growth objectives.
- Lead, supervise and ensure the timely and accurate preparation, delivery, and analysis of financial statements and management reports for the CEO and external partners as required.
- Establish and enforce internal controls for financial processes ensuring the integrity of the financial system in compliance with approved policies and procedures.
- Provide all financial data and indicators required for grant applications and reports to funders.
- Assist CEO in fundraising efforts with individual donors and ensure proper infrastructure for sustaining these efforts.
- Research potential grant opportunities and assist in pursuing these opportunities and preparing applications.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Lead, supervise and ensure accurate preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for CEO and Board review.
- Lead the audit process and serve as liaison with third-party auditors. Ensure timely completion of audits and tax returns.
- Manage the annual budget review process with the CEO and management teams, recommending ways to reduce costs and enhance revenues.
- Supervise Bookkeeper and confirm accuracy of all financial data.
- Oversee outsourced payroll function and serve as staff liaison to payroll service provider.
- Research financial opportunities available for debt service and tax credits for non-profit organizations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or CPA preferred
- Minimum of five/seven years progressive accounting and budget experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience working with accounting requirements for gifts from private foundations, individual donors, and government grants
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and general ledger accounting software
- Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated professional business writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement appropriate financial policies and procedures
- Proven ability to problem solve and meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Work Environment
- Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site position at our Durham, NC office
- Occasional evening and weekend meetings and events required
- Limited travel may be necessary
- Regular use of laptop and standard office equipment
- Office environment with moderate noise level
