Parktown Food Hub Executive Director

The Parktown Food Hub is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a leader in food security and community building in Durham, NC. We are seeking a part-time Executive Director to lead our well-respected and established community organization. You will be responsible for representing the Parktown Food Hub, building and maintaining partnerships, client communication, staff supervision, and volunteer management. In collaboration with the Board of Directors you will also be responsible for fundraising.

This is a part-time (approximately 25 hours per week) position with a starting salary of $2,000/month. We are prioritizing candidates who demonstrate a long-term interest and commitment to strengthening and growing our organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Professional Qualifications:

-Excellent oral and written communication

-Experience in development, grant writing and fundraising

-Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure and against deadlines

-Commitment to diversity in gender, race, culture and other differences

-Excitement about our mission

-Basic computer skills and knowledge of office management systems and procedures

-High school diploma or equivalent

-Valid North Carolina driver’s license

Preferred qualifications:

-BA/BS degree

-Experience working with food insecure populations

-Strategic planning and management experience

-The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, twist, and kneel

The Hub is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. Each Monday there is a food distribution by appointment, and on two Thursdays per month we hold an open distribution. The Executive Director will need to be present at the Hub for most of these hours at first and then can be more flexible depending on Hub activities in the community and availability of other staff.
