About the role
The Prevention Specialist works with school communities to plan and deliver substance misuse prevention services to youth, families, and school staff.

Core responsibilities
o Collaborate with schools to develop sustainable prevention strategies.
o Provide research-informed, age-appropriate educational programs.
o Administer and evaluate assessments to identify community risk and protective factors.
o Compose reports for community assessments and program summaries.
o Participate in professional development opportunities for personal and organizational
growth.

Location & commitments
o This is a permanent, full-time salaried position with occasional evening and weekend work.
o Position is a combination of virtual work and regular onsite client visits.
o Must be able travel domestically and internationally for assignments and maintain
reliable transportation.
o Position may require traveling for consecutive weeks and/or for three or more programs
within a four-week period.

Qualifications
o At least three years of continuous, long-term recovery from alcohol and/or other substance use disorder.
o Bachelor’s degree in education or behavioral health field from accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
o Excellent public speaking, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills. o Ability to effectively use your personal experience with substance use disorder to teach
core principles of alcohol and other drug prevention.
o Successful completion of Soundcheck’s background check process.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
o Experience in multi-cultural environments; bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus. o Experience with alcohol and other drug prevention planning and program
implementation.
o Advanced degree(s) in related field (school counseling, public health, addiction studies) preferred.
o Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms.
Salary and Benefits
Health stipend: $500/month
