We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for a program officer role for our eastern region. This program officer must live in the region and will work to provide leadership in support of affiliate grantmaking programs, will administer scholarships, and will work with our community nonprofits.

Summary:

The Program Officer builds and maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations in a designated region of North Carolina, with an emphasis on supporting grant distribution and scholarship administration. The Program Officer embraces and models values of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging across all NCCF operations as we advance our mission.

Core responsibilities include:
•    Cultivating relationships with charitable organizations within the assigned region, developing a broad and inclusive network of grantee organizations
•    Leading the development and fulfillment of program interests, reviewing proposals and gathering information to support the grantmaking process of affiliate foundations within the assigned region
•    Supporting affiliate foundation grant chairs and committees in executing annual grants program within the assigned region
•    Understanding and upholding compliance with grantmaking guidelines and regulations
•    Administering scholarship funds within the region when the affiliate board serves as the selection committee
•    Building and maintaining an active understanding of existing and emerging needs of communities within the region
•    Working across functions and teams on regional projects and information-sharing on needs and general knowledge of nonprofit organizations 
•    Promoting awareness of funding opportunities to eligible grantee organizations within the region through meetings and presentations with individuals and groups within the community

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
•    High level of customer service skills
•    Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and competency in meeting facilitation, public speaking, adjusting messaging to different audiences as needed
•    Ability to cultivate and sustain relationships and partnerships internally and externally
•    Strong collaboration and leadership skills
•    Ability to negotiate a wide range of topics 
•    A focus on process implementation, process improvement and efficiency
•    Proficiency in a variety of technology tools including MS Office, databases, and presentation tools, and a willingness to embrace the use of new technologies
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization
•    Ability to implement changes provided by management 

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study, or associate degree with related experience
•    Experience in the philanthropic/nonprofit sector, grants management, or community engagement, including three to five years of work experience.

•    The following are included in the eastern NC region: Beaufort, Bertie, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Gates, Greene, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, New Hanover,  Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Robeson, and Sampson. 
•    The person in this position is expected to travel extensively within the above counties.  Some overnight travel within the region and to NCCF’s Raleigh office is expected. 

Salary and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to work with a committed, engaged team. The hiring range for this position is $68,000 to $72,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. NCCF is an equal opportunity employer.
