Volunteer Management Training Series

The Volunteer Management Training Series (VMTS) is an interactive training on the latest research and best practices of a volunteer program. Developed by Points of Light and its Global Network of HandsOn Affiliates, the series includes seven online modules – 2.5 hours each – updated to be Zoom-friendly, COVID-informed, and equity-infused.

Sessions are eligible for professional development credits for CVA recertification. Sessions are also endorsed by NCAVA.

Module 7: Equitable Environments

Based on extensive research, HandsOn developed this session to help organizations find ways to help ensure their volunteer programs are equity-infused and welcoming to all. The session provides interactive activities that allow participants to start putting the ideas included in their research into action within volunteer programs.

  • Examining the goal of creating an equitable environment for volunteers
  • Articulating the benefits of creating a culture of belonging within their program
  • Exploring various methods for building equitable environments
  • Identifying further resources to assist in creating equitable environments
