About United Way Greater Triangle (UWGT)
United Way Greater Triangle connects people and resources to community-driven solutions that create lasting impact across Durham, Johnston, Orange, and Wake counties. We invest in effective programs, convene partners across sectors, and amplify the work of nonprofits that strengthen families and communities.

The Opportunity:

Funding is the foundation of everything we do. Every donation received, every ACH deposit, and every pledge fulfilled represents the generosity of donors who believe in our mission and the communities we serve.

We're seeking an Accounts Receivable Manager who understands that cash processing is more than a financial function—it's an essential part of ensuring donor contributions are accurately received, recorded, and stewarded. In this role, you'll help safeguard the organization's financial integrity by ensuring every dollar is accounted for, properly documented, and managed with precision. Additionally, you will work closely with interdepartmental teams to support Accounts Payable workflows, coordinate with Philanthropy to ensure prompt data entry, and contribute to additional cross-functional initiatives as needed. Your work will directly support our ability to maximize resources and create meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Bring in the Resources: Cash & check processing

You process and deposit all checks received through our banking channels, manage cash deposits from campaign activities and pledges, and oversee the complete lifecycle of deposit processing. You ensure that every dollar is immediately secured and accurately recorded. You understand that timely, accurate deposit processing demonstrates to our donors and partners that we're responsible stewards of the resources they entrust to us.

Keep the System Accurate: Data entry & reconciliation

You enter deposit information into our accounting system with meticulous accuracy, record ACH payments, and manage pledge records. You pull payment reports from United Way portals and third-party processors, reconcile them against our records, and ensure complete alignment. You support general ledger reconciliations and participate in monthly and annual close processes. Your attention to detail means our financial records are trustworthy, and our team can rely on the complete, accurate picture.

Bridge Donors and Impact: Reporting & process support

You manage pledge information, ensure that donor-directed gifts are properly documented, and support the finance team in accurate reporting to leadership. You create a clear financial record that honors every donor's generosity and demonstrates the full scope of our organization's reach.

Who You Are

A nonprofit person. You're fueled by mission, not just tasks. You understand that cash processing is in service of real community impact.

Mission-Driven. You understand that nonprofits are funded through the generosity of donors. You handle every donation and financial transaction with the highest level of integrity and respect.

Meticulous and accurate. You catch discrepancies, reconcile numbers obsessively, and take pride in perfect records.

Organized and efficient. You manage multiple deposit sources, portal reports, and reconciliation processes without losing track of a single transaction.

Solution Oriented. When something doesn't match up, you dig in, ask questions, and resolve issues thoughtfully.

Technically fluent. You're confident with accounting software, banking platforms, spreadsheets, and external portals. A quick learner with new systems.

Collaborative and communicative. You work well with the Director of Finance and Finance team, flagging issues early and keeping people informed.

Trustworthy. You handle financial data and donor information with the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Calm under change. Plans shift. You adapt without panic, recalibrate quickly, and bring others along with you.

Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

● Minimum 3–5 years of accounts receivable or related accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or campaign-based fundraising.

● Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB 116/117).

● Proficiency with accounting software and donor/campaign management systems (experience with Andar/360 or similar platforms a plus).

● Strong Excel and data analysis skills.

● Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.

● High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
