Communications and Grants Specialist

This position reports to the Executive Director and plays a crucial role in advancing the mission of our small nonprofit organization by managing both internal and external communications effectively and securing funding through grant writing and management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a passion for our organization's mission.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead communications strategy — website, social media, e-newsletter, press releases, and annual reports — keeping everything on-brand and on-message.
  • Serve as lead communications support for our annual giving campaign, building relationships with workplace and neighborhood campaign coordinators and producing campaign materials and updates.
  • Research, write, and manage grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports; track deadlines and maintain funder relationships.
  • Monitor grant compliance and reporting, working closely with the Community Impact Manager on outcomes data.
  • Strategize, lead and support special events and other projects as needed.

What You Bring:

  • 3–5 years in nonprofit communications or development required; grant writing and event planning experience preferred.
  • Strong writer and communicator with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office/Excel, WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, and social media; grant management software (e.g., Foundant) a plus.
  • Able to work independently, travel within Chatham County, and occasionally attend evening/weekend events.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
