Community Impact Manager 

Position Summary 

The Community Impact Manager leads United Way of Chatham County’s collective impact initiatives in support of the organization’s mission and its Bold Goal to move 2,000 people out of poverty. This position serves as a backbone leader for collaborative community efforts that address the root causes of poverty and improve outcomes for children and families. 

Working in partnership with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, healthcare providers, businesses and community members, the Community Impact Manager convenes stakeholders, facilitates cross-sector collaboration, coordinates shared strategies and manages community data and reporting efforts across collective impact initiatives. 

The Community Impact Manager serves as the primary staff lead for the Chatham Housing Collective (CHC) and the Chatham Success Network (CSN), while supporting the development and implementation of additional community impact strategies aligned with United Way’s mission and Bold Goal. 

Key Responsibilities 

Collective Impact Leadership 

  • Serve as the primary staff lead for United Way’s collective impact initiatives, including the Chatham Housing Collective (CHC) and Chatham Success Network (CSN). 
  • Facilitate meetings, workgroups and collaborative planning efforts involving community partners. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit, government, education, healthcare and business stakeholders. 
  • Support implementation of strategies and action plans that advance United Way’s Bold Goal. 
  • Coordinate trainings, program presentations and other professional development opportunities for partners. 

Grantmaking and Community Investment 

  • Coordinate United Way’s annual community investment and grantmaking process. 
  • Support applicants, reviewers and committees throughout the grant cycle. 
  • Assist with the evaluation of applications, outcomes and funding recommendations. 
  • Support the alignment of grantmaking with United Way’s Bold Goal and community impact priorities. 
  • Coordinate grant-related communications and reporting in partnership with United Way staff. 

Data, Evaluation, and Reporting 

  • Maintain shared measurement systems, databases, dashboards and reporting tools. 
  • Collect, analyze and communicate data to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact. 
  • Prepare reports for leadership, funders, community partners and the Board of Directors. 

Community Engagement and Communications 

  • Represent United Way at community meetings, coalitions and public events. 
  • Deliver presentations and facilitate discussions with diverse audiences. 
  • Collaborate with staff to develop impact stories, grant content, marketing materials and community communications that highlight United Way’s work and community impact. 

Leadership and Organizational Support 

  • Supervise interns and provide guidance, training and professional development opportunities. 
  • Support grant reporting, special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned. 
  • Consistently demonstrate the mission, values and vision of United Way of Chatham County. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. 
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to work with diverse groups of people. 
  • Public speaking experience required. 
  • Must be detail oriented with superior accuracy in work delivered. 
  • Must possess strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize. 
  • Must be transparent, ethical and possess high integrity leadership skills. 
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive outlook, and the ability to manage ambiguity and change in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must be able to climb stairs daily, and occasionally lift 15–20 pounds up and down stairs. 
  • Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license. Some business travel within Chatham County is required. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Proficiency in Power BI and Airtable. 
  • Experience leading collective impact. 
  • Experience in social services delivery a plus.
