Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile Development and Advocacy Manager for a unique hybrid role. This position blends fundraising strategy, public policy, and conference planning to grow our support base and advance policies that help diabetes professionals and the patients they serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Development & Fundraising (~50%): Craft and execute fundraising strategies for HRSA, educational grants, and private funders; cultivate relationships with donors and corporate partners; and write compelling grant proposals.
- Advocacy & Public Policy (~30%): Build advocacy campaigns, track legislation, engage with policymakers, and communicate with payer systems to advocate for a distinct diabetology taxonomy.
- Conferences & Collaboration (~20%): Help promote and execute ACD conferences, manage exhibit logistics/booths, and collaborate across departments to support organization-wide initiatives.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree (preferably in nonprofit management, public policy, public health, or communication); a master's degree or an equivalent mix of experience is a plus.
- 2+ years of preferred experience in nonprofit development, advocacy, or both.
- Preferred familiarity with health policy, legislative advocacy, or public affairs.
- Strong communication skills across grant proposals, policymaker outreach, and general messaging.
- A proactive, organized, self-motivated mindset with a team-first attitude.
This position will initially be a contracted position. We anticipate it developing into a part time or full time role in the near future with:
