Summary/Objective: The Director of Programs serves as the face of programs between community partners/referring agencies. The Director of Programs contributes insights and expertise to the operations, direction, and goals of The Green Chair Project and works collaboratively to implement initiatives with other members of the programs team and leadership team.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
The Director of Programs is responsible for cultivating existing and new relationships with community partners and ensuring that program objectives are met. Responsible for creating an environment of collaboration and accountability with clearly established roles and expectations but allows and welcomes input and creativity from others.
Program strategy (70%)
- Develop new connections and opportunities in our community with the help of referral partners/agencies.
- Develop new partnerships with nonprofit organizations that would be good collaborative partners with The Green Chair Project.
- Co-leads, along with a board member, the Program Services Advisory Committee to look at all aspects of existing services to propose areas for growth and improvement.
- Initiates and sets annual goals for the agency’s program.
- Assist with grant writing and submission process; provide Programs data and statistics.
- Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization. Create new ones with the Leadership team as needed.
- Establishes program priorities with input from the Executive Director and other stakeholders to determine key outcomes.
- Reviews data to determine the effectiveness of our programs.
- Work with Program Coordinators to oversee training content for partner agency’s case managers and social workers.
- Learn and master referral process to aid in completion, assist in training as necessary.
- Serve as an extension of the Program Coordinators, participating in day-to-day activities as needed.
Evaluation (20%)
- Ensures and enters appropriate data (households & individuals served, services provided, demographic info, referring agency info, etc) is collected and tracked in a timely manner.
- Provides metrics and updates to be presented to the Board.
- Monitor the program activities on a weekly basis and conduct an annual evaluation according to the program evaluation framework.
- Report evaluation findings to the CEO, Program Services Advisory Committee and Leadership team and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate.
Supervisory (10%)
- Recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff with the help of the CEO, as needed.
- Supervise Program staff by providing direction, input and feedback.
- Inspire, motivate, and support staff and volunteers.
- Recruit and train volunteers/interns and schedule their appointments.
- Process employee evaluations (90 days and annual) for Program team; provide frequent feedback to drive performance.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's Degree preferred (Social Work or related field of study).
- 5 + years of experience in human services or equivalent related field of study.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills required, preferably in a human services environment; communicate and be committed to the organization’s mission, vision and principles.
- Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals; Prior experience working with people who have experienced poverty, homelessness, crisis, disaster, or multicultural populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with nonprofit partners, agencies, community leaders, volunteers, and the general public. Experience working with county or state Human Services a plus.
- Experience leading the development/design, growth, delivery and strengthening of programs and processes.
- Experience in an outcome orientated approach that recognizes the importance of good data practices as they support the alignment of services towards reaching outcomes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams.
- Prior working knowledge of case management systems such as InfoFlo.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate integrity, credibility and compassion to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, crisis and disasters.
- Excellent organizational skills-ability to prioritize work, multitask and be detail oriented.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a small, non-profit work environment that is fast paced and ever changing.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to change directions easily.
- Strong team player and willing to help others across the organization.
- Self motivated.
Travel required:
- Must be able to travel locally as needed.
