The Hillsborough Arts Council (HAC) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to advocate for local artists and provide access to inclusive community arts programming. Our signature seasonal events are Last Fridays & the Art Walk (May-October), the Solstice Lantern Walk & Market (December), and the Handmade Parade (every other April). These events have grown to welcome thousands of participants! We also host small workshops and House Concerts throughout the year, as well as run a Gallery & Giftshop in downtown Hillsborough.
Do you have experience planning and executing community events? Do you like to organize a detailed spreadsheet as well as get your hands a little dirty? We are looking for a full-time Events Coordinator to join our small, collaborative team of 4 staff members! We are searching for someone who enjoys community arts events, provides great customer service, and is highly organized. HAC values diversity, teamwork, flexibility, creativity, and self-motivation.
The Events Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director. The primary role of this position is to take the lead on all HAC event logistics, contribute to team programming decisions, coordinate the event volunteer program, and build good community relations. The Events Coordinator will attend weekly in-person meetings, including team meetings, one on one check-ins with the ED, and regular meetings with the Digital Coordinator. The Events and Digital Coordinators will work closely to ensure accurate marketing content.
Duties include community outreach, pre-event supply preparation, facilitating permits and artist contracts, on-site set up and breakdown at events, event volunteer management on-site and through a new database system, artist/community/partner communications, event hospitality, and digital asset management. The applicant must be available to attend major HAC events, including the Solstice Lantern Walk and Last Fridays & the Art Walk.
Because some job duties include physical set up and breakdown at events, the applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds. A laptop computer will be provided for conducting work responsibilities. The HAC shared staff office space is located in downtown Hillsborough.
