Executive Director 

Agape Christian Counseling is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Charlotte community by offering professional Christian counseling and other counseling services. We are seeking a mission-driven leader to serve as our Executive Director, representing the organization with integrity and excellence to clients, churches, and community partners. The Executive Director will ensure the organization has the proper resources to provide a compassionate, safe environment that empowers individuals and families to experience healing and wholeness. 

 

Position Overview 

The Executive Director will be a follower of Jesus Christ and a compassionate leader who will lead the organization in developing partnerships with churches and community agencies. They will be responsible for stewarding Agape’s resources, building a healthy organization, and leading the team to meet the goals set by the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will embody biblical leadership principles and Agape’s core values, ensuring the delivery of trustworthy and compassionate mental health services.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic and Organizational Leadership 

  • Reflect a Godly character of humility and servanthood in all leadership functions. 
  • Lead the organization according to the strategic plan, monitoring progress and stewarding resources effectively.  
  • Oversee the implementation of all programmatic and operational systems, including team meetings, databases, financial management, communications, and human resources. 
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships and strategic partnerships. 
  • Assemble, train, and retain a team of staff, licensed professional counselors, interns, and volunteers. 
  • Ensure sound Human Resource practices, including performance evaluations and succession plans. 

 

Development and Sustainability 

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in coordination with the Finance Committee. 
  • Work with the Board to create a sustainable funding model with diverse income streams, including philanthropy, grants, and fees for service. 
  • Create and manage an annual development plan, ensuring the success of fundraising efforts. 
  • Ensure that all communication mediums (website, newsletter, etc.) are informative, accurate, and creative. 
  • Program Effectiveness 
  • Curate innovative ideas to help Agape adapt to future trends while meeting current community needs. 
  • Oversee and support the clinical team, ensuring clear communication and ethical standards are met. 
  • Ensure all organizational policies and procedures are documented and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. 
  • Recruit, manage, and motivate a team of ministry-minded individuals. 
  • Establish and track metrics for each service area to ensure goals are met and to inform data-driven decisions. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, business administration, theology, or social work. A master's degree is strongly preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably within a nonprofit, ministry, or mental health organization. 
  • Proven experience in organizational management, including strategic planning, financial oversight, and program development. 
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.

  • A strong spiritual foundation and a personal commitment to the Christian faith. 
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to represent the organization to various stakeholders. 
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and analyze financial reports. 
  • Knowledge of best practices in clinical mental health services and compliance with relevant regulations. 
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to leadership, with a genuine desire to serve the community.
