Field Director

Whiteville, North Carolina  |
Columbus County

Patriotic Millionaires is an international organization of high-net-worth Americans advocating for higher taxes on wealth, a living-wage federal floor, and a rebalancing of political power away from the elite donor class. Since 2022, we have run a sustained civic engagement program in Columbus County, North Carolina built across party lines. In 2025 we ran "Flood the Red Zone," a ten-week paid-media and field effort across eastern North Carolina, with a heavy presence at the NC Yam Festival, Pecan Festival, and other local events. The 2026 program builds on that foundation and operationalizes voters around our Money Agenda.

We are contracting a Field Director to run a ground operation in Columbus County and beyond through the November 2026 general election.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, onboard, supervise, coach, and manage a team of 5 to 10 part-time paid canvassers;
  • Recruit and retain a volunteer corps; convert existing “Deciders” participants and allied contacts into sustained field capacity;
  • Build and execute a weekly field plan across door-to-door canvassing, phone banks, text banks, county fairs and festivals, radio, and digital media;
  • Own turf cuts, quotas, reporting, and performance management;
  • Manage day-to-day operational spending (event supplies, refreshments, canvasser payroll); larger buys route through the NC Director;
  • Close the loop between the field and the national program; relay what is landing with voters, what is not, and what is surfacing at the doors that the lobbying and networking side should hear.

Who We Are Looking For

  • One to three prior cycles of campaign or organizing experience i.e. enough to run a program without ramp-up but not so much that you've absorbed the assumption that places like Columbus County are unwinnable;
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, including documented performance management and involuntary terminations;
  • Fluency with standard field tooling (VAN, Scale to Win or equivalent, Ecanvasser, basic spreadsheets);
  • Fluency in Google Suite;
  • Hailing from Columbus County or the immediate region strongly preferred;
  • Comfortable with a political posture that does not map onto the standard national-brand playbook - neither consultant-class Democrat nor typical advocacy nonprofit.

Contractor must supply: valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, personal smartphone, availability for evenings and weekends.

Salary and Benefits

This is a 1099 independent‑contractor role for the duration of the 2026 election cycle. The Field Director will not be classified as an employee of Patriotic Millionaires and therefore is not eligible for employer‑sponsored benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, or unemployment insurance. Contractors are responsible for their own tax withholdings, insurance coverage, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax obligations.
