Food Pantry Programs Manager

North Raleigh Ministries (NRM) is a faith-based nonprofit that equips families and individuals in crisis with the resources and skills they need to achieve stability. Through evidence-informed and community-based programs, NRM works to foster hope, dignity, and well-being for individuals and families in our community.

We are seeking a Food Pantry Programs Manager to oversee all Food Pantry operations and provide leadership to Food Pantry staff and volunteers. This role is responsible for ensuring a consistent, safe, and dignified client experience while strengthening program quality, compliance, sustainability, and community partnerships. This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the Director of Programs and plays a key role on the Program Leadership Team.

Food Pantry Staff & Volunteer Leadership

  • Provide onboarding, training, supervision, and ongoing development for Food Pantry staff
  • Manage staff scheduling, PTO, and coverage to ensure consistent operations
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings to support teamwork, planning, and learning
  • Ensure appropriate staff and volunteer coverage for pantry operations and phone intake
  • Recruit, schedule, and retain volunteers to meet program needs
  • Facilitate quarterly volunteer meetings and support ongoing training and recognition
  • Interview candidates for Food Pantry program roles in coordination with the Director of Programs

Food Pantry Program Oversight & Compliance

  • Ensure a positive, client-centered experience for all individuals accessing Food Pantry services
  • Address staff, volunteer, and client concerns professionally and escalate as needed
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of Food Pantry program data
  • Prepare monthly and annual output and outcome reports
  • Support grant reporting and special projects by gathering required program data
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and best practices
  • Ensure staff earn and maintain ServSafe certification
  • Manage food recall notifications and sourcing partner requirements
  • Maintain contracts and compliance with food sourcing partners

Partnerships, Strategy & Leadership Development

  • Grow and maintain food sourcing partnerships to support program sustainability
  • Coordinate food drives with churches, agencies, and businesses
  • Ensure participation in required meetings, trainings, and grant-related activities
  • Stay informed of best practices and funding opportunities related to Food Pantry work
  • Participate in Program Leadership Team meetings and ongoing leadership development
  • Represent NRM at community and agency events as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, nonprofit management, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in program management, food pantry operations, or human services
  • Experience supervising staff and volunteers required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with data tracking, reporting, and outcome measurement
  • Commitment to client dignity, equity, and trauma-informed practices
  • ServSafe certification required (or ability to obtain within an established timeframe)

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $55,000–$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience
