Haven House Services is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to formalize and grow our major gifts program to foster deep, meaningful relationships with donors seeking to impact our mission.
Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, the Resource Development team, and agency leadership, this position will lead major donor prospecting and engagement while managing a portfolio of individuals capable of making significant philanthropic investments. This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-driven fundraiser who thrives on connecting donor passions to mission impact.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with the possibility of a hybrid working schedule (see working environment). Duties include, but are not limited to:
Strategy and Relationship Management

Build and manage a portfolio of 125–150 donors and prospects who may have the capacity and likelihood to give gifts of $5,000+ and above.

Develop individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies aligned with donor interests and Haven House’s program priorities.

Lead meaningful donor engagements, focusing on highly personalized outreach, in-person donor meetings, and stewardship calls.

Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer, Executive leadership, and Board members to plan and execute effective, multi-year donor strategies and solicitations.

Create major gift portfolios to manage alongside agency leadership and/or other Resource Development staff. Provide training and support as needed.

Work closely with the Director of Annual Giving to create a stewardship and solicitation strategy for major gift donors within our current peer-to-peer campaigns, year-end giving, and events.

Collaborate with the Donor Relations Manager to expand, successfully execute, and document all activities in the agency’s stewardship plan for major donors.
Tracking and Measuring Success

Work with the Chief Development Office to define and monitor performance benchmarks that guide major gifts activity and accelerate growth across acquisition, retention, and revenue.

Produce quarterly reports with key targets and activities that strengthen our major gift strategies with the potential to present to the Board of Directors
Program Alignment and Storytelling

Develop a deep understanding of Haven House’s programs and outcomes to connect donors with opportunities that match their values.

Collaborate with program and marketing staff to translate impact into compelling donor narratives and proposals.

Help foster a culture of philanthropy at Haven House by engaging staff at all levels and communicating and recognizing their value in building strong donor relationships.
Growth and Strategy

Help grow the Bright Futures Society ($1,200+ annual giving). Lead the development and growth of a major gifts society.

Share planned giving opportunities with donors and work with the RD team to ensure they are promoted externally to donors at all levels

Monitor trends in philanthropy and regional giving to inform strategy and donor engagement, continually looking for ways to improve our efforts.
