Haven House Services is seeking a relationship-driven Major Gifts Officer to build and lead the organization’s major gifts program. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, agency leadership, development staff, and volunteer leaders, the Major Gifts Officer will cultivate meaningful donor relationships and inspire significant philanthropic support for Haven House’s mission and strategic priorities.
The Major Gifts Officer will serve as Haven House’s lead strategist for major individual giving and will manage a portfolio of approximately 125–150 current and prospective donors with the potential to make gifts of $5,000 or more. Responsibilities include donor qualification, portfolio management, prospect research, moves management, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and planned giving integration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
- Build individualized donor engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Conduct donor visits, tours, meetings, and philanthropic conversations.
- Identify and qualify prospective major gift donors using giving history, engagement, prospect research, and wealth screening information.
- Develop strategies to secure annual, major, leadership, and planned gifts.
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer, agency leadership, board members, and volunteers on donor engagement and solicitation.
- Collaborate with program staff to communicate Haven House’s impact and create compelling opportunities for donor investment.
- Track portfolio activity, donor engagement, solicitations, commitments, and stewardship outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports and portfolio analyses for development leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Support the growth of Haven House’s major gift and planned giving programs.
The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of nonprofit fundraising and/or business development or sales experience, with nonprofit and human services experience preferred. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships, solicit and secure gifts of $5,000 or more, meet revenue goals, and independently manage fundraising strategies and outcomes.
Strong communication, organization, strategic thinking, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills are essential. Experience with donor CRM systems, wealth screening tools, and fundraising software is preferred.
Haven House Services offers a hybrid work environment, with the ability to work from home up to 16 hours per week with supervisor approval. The position requires local travel to meet with donors and may occasionally require early morning, evening, or weekend availability.
Salary: $80,000–$90,000 annually.
