Social Emotional Learning Specialist

Wake County Smart Start is seeking a Wake ThreeSchool Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist to foster positive learning environments in Wake ThreeSchool classrooms within private childcare centers. This role focuses on helping children manage emotions, build relationships, and make responsible decisions by supporting educators and implementing SEL-focused initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement SEL Plans: Mentor teachers and recommend SEL resources.
  • Provide Training and Coaching: Train staff in SEL competencies, evaluate programs, and offer professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate SEL Projects and Grants: Manage grant-funded activities, oversee budgets, and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in early childhood education or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Expertise in SEL practices, childcare quality standards, and culturally responsive methods.
  • Certifications: Early Educator Certification (EEC) Level 11 or higher, Technical Assistance Endorsement (TAE).
