In 1983, The North Carolina Reading Service (NCRS) was founded with the goal of ensuring those who are blind or print impaired had a way to access in depth local print journalism. Now in its fourth decade of service, NCRS has grown into a 24/7 broadcast organization that gives listeners equal access to newspapers from several North Carolina metro areas. Listeners also hear several periodicals, books, and informational programs produced with their specific needs in mind. In addition to the traditional signal, there are several ways to digitally access the live NCRS broadcasts.
