ABOUT NAMI North Carolina
NAMI NC envisions a community where all people affected by mental health conditions can live healthy and fulfilling lives. We advocate at the county, state and national levels for non-discriminatory access to quality healthcare, housing, education and employment for people with mental illness. We educate the public about mental illness and work to eliminate the stigma of mental illness. Lastly, we advocate for increased funding for research into the causes and treatment of mental illness.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
NAMI NC is hiring an Eastern Regional Community Outreach Coordinator who will work to increase the capacity of NAMI NC to provide NAMI signature programs, information, resources, support, and awareness of mental health conditions in the unserved areas of North Carolina. This role will also support the community outreach efforts and initiatives of the Affiliates in their assigned region. This position is supervised by the Director of Outreach and Affiliate Support at NAMI NC and located in our Greenville, NC office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop and implement strategies to engage individuals and entities to start a new Affiliate in assigned region’s unserved areas of North Carolina
- Research and gain NAMI presence at outreach activities, events and meetings in assigned region’s unserved areas of North Carolina
- Build relationships with regional Affiliates and support outreach expansion and efforts of regional Model B Affiliates
- Build relationships with community partners and stakeholders, including board members, committee members, health providers, peers, families, and the public
Community Outreach
- Collaborate with Director of Outreach and Affiliate Support to respond to requests for speakers, presentations, and events by maintaining regional outreach tracker
- Collaborate with NAMI NC Director of Programs and Initiatives to provide NAMI program information to regional service area
- Collaborate with NAMI NC Director of Contracts and Grants to identify areas in need of NAMI NC funding support in assigned region
- Work with Youth Initiatives Outreach Coordinator to help support and recruit NAMI on Campus clubs
- Support regional Affiliates in with outreach planning and initiatives with an emphasis on Model B support
- Engage in opportunities to develop and cultivate relationships with both well-established and new community resources, leaders, coalitions, networks, and organizations
- Plan strategic outreach initiatives including training, events, promotions, and presentations
- Represent NAMI North Carolina at conferences and events
Additional duties as assigned - Attend NAMI NC events and help with planning as applicable
- Support regional and State fundraisers, including NAMI Walks
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required
- Previous experience in program support and community outreach
- Expertise in building relationships with others, where they feel heard and respected
- Demonstrated ability to communicate empathetically and directly through various verbal and written communications
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work with a wide range of diverse groups
- Commitment to advancing the mission of NAMI North Carolina
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- The ability to work some evenings and weekends, with regular travel required – including in-person monthly meetings at NAMI NC office in Raleigh, NC
- A reliable mode of transportation to attend events across the service area as necessary
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
MORE ABOUT THIS POSITION
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week; salary range $50,000 - $55,000 per year, with benefits
- The position is on site in Greenville, NC.
