HOW YOU’LL ADVANCE OUR MISSION | POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Philanthropic Advancement is responsible for growing, stewarding, and retaining philanthropic assets by cultivating new fundholder relationships and managing a defined portfolio. This role advances donor retention through proactive, high-touch relationship management and leads strategic project initiatives related to growth, stewardship, and philanthropic offerings, as identified by the Vice President, Personal & Family Philanthropy and senior FFTC leadership. The AVP also collaborates across FFTC on cross-functional project teams that advance organizational priorities and enhance the donor experience.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in philanthropic advising and fundraising, including familiarity with charitable vehicles, asset types, gift structures, and planning strategies, and demonstrates a relationship-driven approach grounded in trust, responsiveness, and strategic engagement.

 

YOUR UNIQUE IMPACT | ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 


Business   Development 

  • Develop a command of FFTC products and  services to speak knowledgeably to prospective fund holders about working  with FFTC, including fund types, investment options, acceptance of complex   assets, etc.
  • Contribute to the product development of the suite of products at FFTC, including new program initiatives.
  • Participate in the prospecting process to   cultivate and onboard new fundholders; including prospect research, proposal   preparation, meeting participation and follow ups
  • Plan, track and report on activities with   prospects using the CRM database system and provide strategic input and   direction on database best practices.
  •  Identify, attend and support events sponsored   by FFTC as a prospect generation strategy.
  • Serve the PA Team by executing new or existing   strategic initiatives which broaden the scope of FFTC products and services.
  • Assist the team to develop a 3-year business  plan to (i) increase support for Community Impact Funds (ii) develop a strategy to engage successor advisors (iii) determine donor interest area to   ensure strong stewardship and retention of current donor base.
  • Partner with colleagues on business   development efforts for key prospective individuals and families that   demonstrate interest in legacy giving.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with   professional advisors as key referral sources and partners for planned giving   and other opportunities and serve as a point of contact for advisors seeking   information on behalf of clients.

Relationship Management

  • Serve as dedicated relationship manager for a   portfolio of fund relationships to provide excellent customer service, day-to-day   support, stewardship, philanthropic counsel and support for long-range   charitable planning.
  • Assist Vice President, Personal & Family  Philanthropy, in overseeing and implementing relationship management   activities including execution of stewardship functions and programming   opportunities for all fundholders. 
  • Identify and engage in cross-selling   opportunities with existing clients to expand relationships.
  • Meet with donors to create, review and update succession   plans, providing drafting and editing support to properly reflect donor   wishes & legacy goals.
  • In coordination with the Finance & Donor Operations teams, ensure donor documentation is appropriately maintained and that   best practices in record keeping are implemented.
  • Work with administrative staff to ensure all   aspects of client event execution are completed (invitation preparation, list   generation, RSVPs, event detail coordination, “at-event” support functions,   and related follow up)

Marketing & Strategy 

  • In conjunction with the Marketing &   Communications team, plan, help create and implement marketing efforts to   promote FFTC’s suite of products, including website content, marketing   collateral, direct mail, advertising and donor profiles. 
  • Develop communication vehicles to educate  prospects, clients and professional advisors about FFTC as well as to promote  the establishment of new funds with FFTC.
  • Serve on cross-functional teams working on   strategic projects impacting the Centers for Giving, including investments,   pricing, product development, database management, and stewardship practices,   as appropriate. Understand the inter-relationship between PA Team business processes   and other functional areas and strive toward continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED FOR SUCCESS: QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (focus on business, marketing, finance or related field)
  • At least 5 years of experience, preferably in fundraising, development, or financial services/wealth management. 
  • Previous communications, development or marketing experience in a corporate or nonprofit setting preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous experience with Blackbaud software preferred. 
  • Initiator who is detail-oriented and a self-starter, customer service and sales orientation.
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and urgency, while receiving deliverables from multiple team members.
  • Ability to be flexible in a work environment is often filled with challenging situations and resource constraints.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
