Position Summary
The Accounting Manager (internal title Director of Finance) is a key strategic leader responsible for financial oversight, organizational planning, and administrative infrastructure. This role ensures the long-term financial health, sustainability, and operational excellence of the organization while cultivating a culture of generosity and building strong relationships with members and community partners. The Director brings strategic insight, systems thinking, and mission-focused leadership rooted in Christian values.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Provide strategic direction for the organization’s financial health and resource stewardship.
- Use data-driven insights to forecast revenue, measure outcomes, and optimize fundraising strategies.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support informed decision-making, fund-raising efforts, and comprehensive program evaluation.
Finance
- Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with Executive Director and the Finance committee.
- Present financial reports and strategic analysis to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Session.
- Oversee investment strategies, cash flow management, and reserve policies.
- Oversee donor database management, reporting, and financial tracking
- Oversee internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant nonprofit regulations, IRS requirements, and GAAP.
- Provide data and analysis to support the annual budgeting process.
- Support endowment and donor reporting by providing accurate financial information.
- Monitor compliance with fund and designated endowment accounting.
- Coordinate the annual audit preparation.
Development
- Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan aligned with the church’s mission, vision, and strategic goals
- Provide oversight to the WMPC Foundation and provide quarterly financial statements and strategic analysis to the Executive Director and Foundation Committee.
- Lead risk management and compliance initiatives.
Administration Leadership & Planning
- Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, growth planning, and mission impact.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to finance staff.
- Partner with program teams on sustainability models and resource allocation.
- Support leadership in developing fair and consistent compensation.
Session & External Relations
- Serve as staff liaison to the Finance Committee and other committees as needed.
- Present clear, mission-aligned financial updates to the Session and the congregation.
- Recruit, train and equip staff and volunteers to support fundraising and donor care.
- Build collaborative relationships with auditors, financial institutions, and key operational vendors.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s in finance, Accounting, or Business preferred
- CPA preferred
- 8–10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Nonprofit financial leadership experience is highly preferred
- Demonstrated success in financial strategy, budgeting, and organizational leadership
- Experience managing finance teams
