Job Description:
Development Coordinator
This is a key fundraising position within the Development Team and reports to the Vice President of Development. The Development Coordinator plays a central role in a small dedicated team fundraising for the only institute in the world dedicated exclusively to advanced study in the humanities. The National Humanities Center hosts faculty Fellows from around the globe, provides free continuing education programs for K-12 teachers nationwide, trains undergraduate student leaders conducting high-impact humanities research, and convenes public humanities events nationwide.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Management:
- Maintain the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge donor database (CRM). Enter donations, configure reports, and ensure accurate recording and documentation.
- Coordinate with the Finance Team to ensure correct allocation of donor funds and integration with the Blackbaud Financial Edge data management system.
- Create acknowledgement letters, gift receipts, impact reporting, and stewardship materials.
- Respond to donor inquiries with accurate and timely information.
- Coordinate the design and production of print and digital fundraising appeal mailings, donor correspondence, and fundraising emails.
- Generate fundraising reports for internal stakeholders.
- Manage relevant contact lists within Constant Contact for campaign outreach.
- Research and identify prospective new donors and sponsors.
- Manage data and contact details in AirTable for the Institutional Sponsors, a program of 100 top colleges and universities who support the NHC.
Development Administration:
- Participate in the strategic development of appeals and campaign planning.
- Draft appeal mailings, manage mailing lists, play a central role in executing fundraising campaigns such as the Annual Fund, Scholarly Programs, Education Program, Planned Giving, and the Scroop-Reid Child Care Bursary Fund.
- Participate in and assist with special events and Board of Trustees convenings.
- Manage vendor relationships.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in donor database management and utilization, including experience with gift entry, report creation, and report execution.
- Knowledge of Google Drive and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Experience with and proficiency in problem solving and conflict resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of fundraising experience at a nonprofit or higher education organization.
- Familiarity with Raiser's Edge and ResearchPoint.
- Knowledge of Constant Contact, AirTable, and Asana.
- Proven experience in crafting fundraising solicitations.
- Experience drafting donor acknowledgement letters.
Schedule and Location:
- Full-time, salaried position
- Hours are 8:30 am - 4:30pm, Monday – Friday
- Hybrid position, with a minimum a three days a week in the office
Compensation and Benefits:
The Salary range for this position is $60,000 - $64,000. The candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills will be considered.
