NC Counts Coalition seeks 3 full-time Regional Coordinators to join our team. The positions are remote, but you must live in North Carolina and cover Medicaid Managed Care Region 1, 2, 4, 5, or 6. One position must live in Medicaid Managed Care Region 1. Up to 40% travel within North Carolina is required.

ABOUT NC COUNTS COALITION

NC Counts Coalition is a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization committed to building a healthy, just, and equitable North Carolina through cross-sector partnerships that advance systemic solutions for communities facing systemic barriers, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, low wealth, immigrant, and other communities.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Regional Coordinator plays a key role in advancing NC Counts’ mission to build a healthy, just, and equitable North Carolina. The candidate must be grounded in community and ready to build relationships, strengthen connections, and support collective action across their region. This role is rooted in community presence. The Regional Coordinators work in partnership with the Regional Director to support the implementation of regional strategies while contributing to how the work takes shape.

The ideal candidate will bring an organizer's mindset, a passion for movement-building, and a strong commitment to the communities we serve. They must be detail-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in all aspects of their work.

The candidate must be able to travel regionally and nationally, as well as work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to support community events and organizational priorities as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the implementation of outreach, training, initiatives, campaigns, and mobilization efforts that engage members, partners, and community leaders in NC Counts’ priority areas, including Civic Engagement, Census, and Recovery and Resiliency
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with community members, grassroots leaders, and community based organizations across assigned regions
  • Stay connected to community dynamics by showing up in local spaces, attending events, and maintaining an active presence in the communities served
  • Listen to community priorities, identify patterns, and bring forward insights and ideas to help strengthen regional strategies and approaches
  • Engage, educate, and connect members, partners, and stakeholders to opportunities for collective action and participation in Coalition efforts
  • Support member organizations and community partners in taking collective action that impacts the systems and institutions affecting their communities
  • Capture community narratives and share stories in ways that are respectful, accurate, and build trust. Understands the responsibility of holding and representing people’s experiences with care
  • Foster inclusive environments that reflect and respect the diversity of NC Counts Coalition and its members and partners

Community Engagement and Mobilization

  • Drive participation and turnout for campaigns, trainings, convenings, and collective actions
  • Coordinate and work community outreach activities, meetings, and events that strengthen connection and engagement across the network
  • Help scale NC Counts’ work by supporting outreach and direct outreach efforts to community members across communities and regions. This could include calls, texts, and in-person engagement. Engage with local government partners and, when appropriate, elected officials to support NC Counts’ outreach, education, and engagement efforts.
  • Support Regional Directors and the broader team in meetings, convenings, and events that involve government partners
  • Build awareness of local government dynamics and identify opportunities to strengthen connections between community partners and public systems

Base Building and Coalition Development

  • Recruit and onboard new Coalition members, with a focus on organizations led by and serving communities directly impacted by systemic inequities
  • Build and sustain relationships that move organizations from initial engagement to active participation in the Coalition
  • Strengthen connections across member organizations to support a more aligned, coordinated, and responsive network
  • Support member engagement by connecting organizations to opportunities, resources, and partnerships
  • Identify emerging leaders and support opportunities for deeper involvement in Coalition efforts
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of relationships, engagement, and outreach activities

Capacity Building and Network Activation

  • Support the planning and implementation of regional and statewide opportunities for connection, learning, and alignment, including meetings, trainings, and convenings
  • Strengthen member capacity by connecting organizations to tools, resources, and opportunities that support their work
  • Drive participation in trainings and Coalition activities that build knowledge, alignment, and shared strategy across the network
  • Help mobilize the Coalition to take coordinated action in support of NC Counts’ priorities
  • Partner with the Regional Director to create and implement educational opportunities to raise awareness of critical issues and promote engagement with the NC Counts’ programming
  • Plan and facilitate regional meetings, in partnership with a Regional Director, to strengthen collaboration, communication, and coordination among Coalition members and local stakeholders
  • Provide training and resources to Coalition and community members to enhance their understanding of civic engagement and organizing strategies.

Grant and Administrative Support

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with NC Counts grantees
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for grantees, responding to questions, offering guidance, and helping them stay connected to Coalition efforts
  • Show up to and support grantee-led outreach events, activities, and engagements to strengthen relationships and reinforce NC Counts’ partnership
  • Support grantees in successfully implementing their funded work by identifying needs, offering support where appropriate, and connecting them to resources and opportunities within the Coalition
  • Track and support basic grantee deliverables and elevate challenges, needs, and opportunities

Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as organizational priorities evolve.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • (1) or more years of experience in promoting and implementing issue organizing or electoral field programs. This may include experience with community organizing tactics, such as digital campaigns and door-to-door canvassing
  • Demonstrated experience in quickly developing and implementing tactics and operations to translate strategies and goals into on-the-ground realities in a complex, fast-paced, and fluid environment
  • Proven experience collaborating with and supporting BIPOC communities, along with a strong commitment to promoting racial justice, equity, and fostering an inclusive organizational culture
  • Strong understanding of North Carolina’s history, politics, and regional distinctions
  • Proficiency with programs and tools, including Google Workspace, survey platforms such as Survey Monkey, project management tools such as Monday or Asana, Hubspot, or other CRMs.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changes.
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and adjust strategies to meet the diverse needs of communities and internal teams.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to build trust with community members and community-based organizations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to follow through on commitments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments
  • Ability to listen, identify patterns, and bring forward insights from community to support strategy development
  • Comfort working collaboratively across teams and communities
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel within the region as needed
  • Must have a deep connection to Medicaid Managed Care Region 1, 2, 4, 5, or 6, even if not currently residing in that region
  • Conversational Spanish is a plus!

PAY & BENEFITS

  • The compensation for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 per year.
