Children & Family Program Coordinator

Brevard, North Carolina  |
Transylvania County

The Family Place is hiring a part-time Children & Family Program Coordinator to plan and lead welcoming, age-appropriate programming for children and their parents or caregivers. Some programs focus primarily on children, while others actively involve parents and caregivers through shared play, conversation, and connection. The Coordinator will support Playgroups, Open Play, and other family-centered activities at our Brevard and Rosman locations and at approved community sites.

What you will do

• Plan and facilitate educational, creative, and interactive activities for children, parents/caregivers, and families.

• Work collaboratively as part of a team while independently managing assigned responsibilities, preparing programs, and following through on priorities.

• Prepare program spaces, materials, and team assignments for successful delivery.

• Create safe, inclusive environments and follow established safety procedures.

• Engage intentionally with parents and caregivers through welcoming conversation, encouragement, and support for positive caregiver-child interaction.

• During Open Play, remain present and engaged in the room—connecting with caregivers and playing with children as appropriate so parents/caregivers can stay nearby while also getting a brief breather.

• Share relevant child-development information and community resources with families.

• Collaborate with staff and community partners and help assess program effectiveness.

What you bring

• A positive, encouraging attitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to support teammates and contribute to a collaborative workplace.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; related associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Previous experience planning and implementing children’s, caregiver-child, or family-centered programs.

• Strong organization, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications.

Salary and Benefits

• Part-time, hourly: approximately 30 hours per week at $15.00-$18.50 an hour.

• Flexible schedule with regular or occasional evening and weekend hours.

• Work in indoor and outdoor settings and travel among approved program sites.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
