Position Overview:
Program Navigator (Bilingual English/Español)
North Raleigh Ministries (NRM) equips families and individuals in crisis with the resources and skills they need to achieve stability. This is accomplished through evidence-informed and community-based programs that foster hope, purpose, and well-being. The Program Navigator plays a critical role in NRM’s client service delivery model by providing direct support to Food Pantry clients, volunteers, staff, and agency partners. This position supports day-to-day food pantry operations through client engagement, volunteer communication, program-related administrative tasks, and partner reporting. This role also provides flexible support across other CARE Services program areas as needed, helping ensure continuity of services organization-wide. This full-time, non- exempt position reports directly to the Program Manager, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Director of Programs, and works in a collaborative, team-oriented environment to help ensure a positive, organized, and dignified experience for all individuals served by the Food Pantry and food security programs.
Position Responsibilities:
Frontline Support (30%)
- Assist with Food Pantry phone operations, including curbside client intake and program-related calls.
- Verify client eligibility and complete thorough client intake, direct and initiate referrals to appropriate staff.
- Assist in maintaining accurate client-facing materials, including flyers, forms, grocery slips, and informational signage.
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of all Food Pantry and program-related data.
Food Pantry Operations (30%)
- Monitor food quality and temperature logs, facilitate and process pantry deliveries from the FBCENC, Retail Partnerships, and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
- Assist in daily pantry operations to ensure a consistent, organized, safe, and welcoming experience for clients.
- Assist with retail donation pickups along with the NRM logistics coordinator when a volunteer is unable to provide support.
- Monitor pantry inventory levels and minimize waste to ensure efficient use of resources.
Volunteer Engagement (20%)
- Provide support and guidance to daily food pantry volunteers and assist during volunteer group events.
- Ensure consistent volunteer scheduling in the food pantry and coordinate with pantry team members to provide coverage.
- Create a supportive and positive food pantry environment that encourages and empowers volunteers.
- Assist with training and onboarding new volunteers.
Program & Professional Development (20%)
- Assist Program Manager with nutrition-related initiatives and classes.
- Engage in ongoing leadership development related to program and food pantry management.
- Participate in database development and training related to the food pantry operations and programs.
- Provide recommendations to the Program Manager regarding opportunities to enhance food pantry program effectiveness.
Position Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree in human services or a related field required Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Experience in office administration, program support, or client-facing roles preferred. Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations preferred
Skills: Bilingual in English and Español required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent time management and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment. Strong organizational and reporting skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, client-centered environment
Certifications: ServSafe certification preferred (within 90 days of employment)
