Affiliate Capacity Associate

North Carolina Conservation Network is seeking candidates for the position of Affiliate Capacity Associate. This is a full-time staff position. Preferred location for this position is in the Triangle, although we will consider candidates from across NC. 

NC Conservation Network is a statewide network of approximately 75 environmental, health, and environmental justice organizations. NC Conservation Network directly advocates for equitable and sustainable solutions for our environment and public health. 

 The Affiliate Capacity Associate plays a critical role in NC Conservation Network’s mission by supporting, training, and coordinating diverse groups. This new role works directly with our Affiliate Capacity Manager and coordinates with affiliate organizations statewide.

Location and travel: We will consider candidates based across North Carolina, with a preference for those based in the Triangle. Staff in the Triangle work out of our downtown Raleigh office on a hybrid model with some work from the office and some work from home. Candidates based outside of the Triangle will be fully remote. This position will also include regular travel across North Carolina. 

Under the direction of and in collaboration with NCCN’s Affiliate Capacity Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Build the base of NC Conservation Network affiliates: Help to build capacity and relationships within the current affiliate network. Identify and recruit new environmental and community organizations to join NC Conservation Network.  
  • Work with affiliates to increase their organizational capacity: Work with a subset of our affiliates to help them build their fundraising, membership, advocacy campaigns, and other organizational capacities. 
  • Support training opportunities and events for affiliates: Including, but not limited to, the NC Conservation Network Conference, webinars, and social events, as well as compiling informative materials for the Weekly Alert newsletter. 
  • Support our affiliates around key statewide advocacy campaigns: Coordinate with staff on affiliate outreach and response around pressing issue campaigns. 
  • Track and update affiliate information: Follow affiliate news and events. Keep our affiliate database up to date and communicate with affiliates about annual dues and services. 

Ideal Qualifications: 

  • Strong communication, networking, and public speaking skills. 
  • Ability to connect with and engage a wide array of people.
  • Passion for environmental and public health protections.
  • A good understanding of North Carolina and its communities.
  • Experience with nonprofits through volunteering or other avenues.
  • Experience with advocacy, coalition work, and event planning. 
  • Comfort with technology and database management.
  • Comfort working non-traditional hours, including occasional weekends and evenings.

     
Salary and Benefits

The annual salary for this entry-level position is $45,000 - $50,000 and comes with full benefits package including health, dental, vision, and matching retirement contribution.
