The Opportunity 

Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina (JAENC) is seeking a part-time Volunteer Engagement Associate. This position will report to the Education Programs Manager and is approximately 15 hours per week. 

JAENC seeks a passionate, driven team player with a commitment to JA’s mission of changing the lives of young people by helping them connect what they learn in school to the outside world. Individuals from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including retired educators and those returning to the workforce after a break or choosing to move from a full-time to a part-time position.

Through JA’s experiential learning programs, students develop skills in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness. Junior Achievement reaches thousands of students annually in relevant, hands-on learning experiences that teach young people to manage their money, plan for their economic future, own their own businesses, and develop readiness for careers or college.


Position Overview 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility for recruiting, coordinating and managing the volunteer sources that support JA of Eastern North Carolina programmatic operations.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

  • Recruit and steward volunteers in collaboration with the JAENC Programs team, implementing recruitment and engagement strategies.
  • Develop and strengthen volunteer pipelines by cultivating relationships with business, community, and college partners in collaboration with the JAENC Programs team.
  • Collaborate with school and program teams to support volunteer stewardship and continuously enhance the volunteer experience.
  • Represent JAENC at volunteer fairs and community engagement events.

CONSTITUENT MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS

  • Maintain volunteer and program calendars to ensure accurate scheduling and volunteer placement.
  • Update shared tracking documents and systems to reflect volunteer participation,
  • status, and key metrics.
  • Communicate with volunteers regarding opportunities, confirmations, reminders, and program logistics.
  • Maintain class and constituent records in Dynamics 365, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
  • Conduct class completion follow-up with educators and volunteers.
  • Assist with preparation and logistics for school-based and fundraising events.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 1+ years sales/recruitment/development experience; ability to recruit, build & sustain relationships in a variety of settings and at different levels; strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills; ability to create strategies to balance short-term requirements with long-range business plans; can work well in a team environment; strong computer skills; high level of customer service. 

HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position offers flexibility to work from home and in the office. The team meets weekly in person and then collaborates in person as needed the rest of the time. The person in this position will also be expected to attend and participate in community events to develop engagement relationsihps as their work schedule permits.
