Engaging Governance Volunteers through Strategic Planning

Organizations struggling to engage and effectively manage governance volunteers often find that bringing them together to focus on planning and strategy helps get them moving in the right direction. If your Board is disengaged or they do not know what they should be doing, the workshop will show you how to empower your board and enhance your impact.

Attendees will learn:

  • Ways to engage volunteers in planning
  • How to shift volunteers from ineffective to focused and engaged
  • Development of strategies that give volunteers meaningful work and advance the cause of the organization

About the Presenter:

Kim Stewart is a nonprofit business and leadership consultant dedicated to making the world a better place by supporting the nonprofit sector. Having spent over thirty years as an organizational leader serving agencies of all sizes, Kim has a huge passion for this industry. In 2020, she decided to expand her reach and shifted from a staff role (serving one organization) to serving multiple agencies through her consulting.

Today Kim offers a wide variety of coaching, consulting, training and facilitation services. Her ultimate goal is to help organizations develop powerful, strategic governance boards that will produce long-lasting impact and success. During her long career with YMCAs in the midwest and Colorado, Kim honed her expertise in leading volunteer Boards of Directors. She uses this expertise to support organizations as they develop the structure and culture needed to recruit and lead the right volunteers for their organization.

Having started her business while living in Colorado and recently returning to her home state of Iowa, Kim now splits her time between the two states. Her family includes two delightful teenagers ~ Libby and Callahan. They love being active in the outdoors, live music, art, reading and more. Serving her community is important to Kim. She gives back as a Board member with Tri-Lakes Cares and Bike Valet volunteer for multiple local events.
