Supporting Our Partners After the Storm: Trauma-Informed Practices

This free virtual workshop recognizes the very real challenges faced by communities and leaders in the wake of the Helene disaster. Many community members are dealing with trauma, depression, executive functioning struggles, and overwhelming responsibilities.

Leaders from Together WNC and Resources for Resilience will facilitate a workshop in which participants will:

  • Learn how to recognize signs of trauma
  • Build empathy for the unique struggles faced by folks on the ground
  • Explore trauma-informed principles that help, not hinder, recovery efforts
  • Practice strategies to stay grounded and effective in challenging situations
  • Explore how inclusion looks different within post-storm privilege dynamics

The session will conclude with an opportunity to reconvene to share progress and deepen these practices. Due to the interactive nature of the workshop, it will not be recorded.

Who Should Attend: Partners at the regional or statewide level who were not directly impacted by Hurricane Helene but work with folks on the ground who are.

Space is limited to 35 participants for this initial training. To be added to the waitlist or to remove your registration if you can no longer attend, please email kdfoley@ncsu.edu.
