  • HIGHTS serves vulnerable youth and families in Western North Carolina. We use experiential activities, community service projects, job training, and goal-driven exercises to help youth develop life skills and instill feelings of community belonging and purpose. Since 2008 HIGHTS has sponsored educational opportunities, recreational activities, job skills training, and community service projects for community partners, such as public schools, mental health agencies, church youth groups, and many other organizations.

  • Our mission is to protect public access, promote responsible use and preserve the traditions of Masonboro Island. We strive to keep the traditions of Masonboro Island -- surfing, camping, fishing, boating, paddleboarding -- open to you, your kids and even your pets for years to come.

  • Planning Ahead is a Durham-based nonprofit advancing environmental justice through hands-on education, leadership development, and civic engagement. We specialize in creating accessible, community-driven programs that equip historically underserved populations with the knowledge and tools to respond to climate challenges. From disaster preparedness to workforce training in green economies, Planning Ahead empowers residents to lead change where they live.

  • Our mission is to increase the use of native plants in residential and commercial landscapes by rescuing native plants that would otherwise be lost to demolition for development or other purposes so they may continue their role in the ecosystem elsewhere. We also save native plants that would be weeded from an individual's native plant garden, for example.

  • To empower and advance farmers, forest landowners, and rural agricultural communities by removing barriers, fostering inclusivity, and increasing representation within USDA and NRCS programs. Through bilingual education, professional development, and proactive outreach, we aim to build a network of culturally proficient professionals who support and uplift landowners and agricultural leaders across the United States.
