2025 Sustainability Course

Sustainability is no longer a choice – it’s a competitive necessity for success. This course – designed for entrepreneurs, small business owners, nonprofits, and business leaders – provides actionable insights and strategies to integrate sustainable practices into your operations and build more environmentally and socially responsible organizations while improving long-term profitability and competitiveness.

Course Highlights:

  • Expert Instructors & Guest Speakers: Engage with sustainability leaders including executives, founders, public sector officials, and renowned academics.
  • Practical Case Studies: Discover real-world examples of how organizations are succeeding through sustainability and explore environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting as a critical framework.
  • Interactive Learning: Collaborate with peers in group discussions, work on scenario analyses, and receive guidance on applying sustainability to your specific organization context.

Six virtual sessions will be held every other Tuesday, January 21-April 1, 2025 from 6:30- 8:00 pm. There will be optional in-person networking events across the state (TBD) for participant engagement.

  • The Business Case for Sustainability (February 4, 2025)
  • Case Studies & ESG Reporting (February 18, 2025)
  • The Profit Case (March 4, 2025)
  • Goal Setting & Legal Strategy (March 18, 2025)
  • Metrics & Measurement for Sustainability (April 1, 2025)

Participants that complete the course will receive a Certificate of Sustainability from the North Carolina Sustainable Business Council.
