North Raleigh Ministries (NRM) is a faith-based nonprofit that equips families and individuals in crisis with the resources and skills they need to achieve stability. Through evidence-informed and community-based programs, NRM works to foster hope, dignity, and long-term well-being.

We are seeking a Bilingual Program Assistant to play a key frontline role in our Food Pantry operations. This position supports clients, volunteers, staff, and community partners by ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly and that every individual served experiences a welcoming, organized, and dignified environment.

This position reports to the Food Pantry Programs Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Programs.

Client Engagement & Frontline Support

  • Provide a positive, consistent, and welcoming experience for Food Pantry clients
  • Manage Food Pantry phone operations and route program-related inquiries appropriately
  • Verify client eligibility and complete accurate intake for new clients
  • Enter and maintain timely and accurate client and program data
  • Maintain client-facing materials, forms, and signage
  • Address client concerns professionally and escalate issues as needed
  • Encourage client connection to additional NRM programs and services

Volunteer & Program Support

  • Assist with volunteer engagement, communication, and appreciation efforts
  • Support volunteer meetings, training activities, and appreciation events
  • Identify volunteer coverage needs and communicate with supervisors
  • Coordinate food drives with churches, agencies, and businesses
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator and Food Pantry Manager on scheduling

Program Administration & Partner Coordination

  • Track and distribute client gift cards related to program milestones
  • Coordinate supplies, meals, and logistics for Journey cohorts and graduations
  • Support program outcome tracking and monthly reporting
  • Maintain communication with partner agencies and complete required reports
  • Ensure partner documentation and records are accurate and up to date

Professional & Team Engagement

  • Participate in regular supervision, staff meetings, and trainings
  • Report facility, system, or technical issues as needed
  • Collaborate with staff to support problem-solving and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in human services or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in administrative, program support, or client-facing roles preferred
  • Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $40,000–$50,000 annually, commensurate with experience
